A.P. Moller Holding Opens Singapore Office, Its First Outside Denmark
A.P. Moller Holding, the Danish investment company that controls shipping group A.P. Moller – Maersk, has opened an office in Singapore, its first outside Denmark. The office will be led by Chetan Mehta, Head of Growth Equity. It will focus on minority stakes in growth-stage companies across Southeast Asia, India, China, Australia and New Zealand, in areas such as AI-enabled supply chains, robotics, fintech, healthcare and green energy. Typical investments range from €20 million to €80 million, from Series C rounds to pre-IPO stage.
The A.P. Moller Group's ties to Singapore date to 1928, when the country became part of Maersk Line's regular service between Asia and the United States. They have since expanded to logistics, maritime services, offshore and drilling. A.P. Moller Holding was established in 2013 as the investment arm of the A.P. Moller Foundation, which was created in 1953 to keep the Maersk group's ownership long-term and stable. The firm has been led by CEO Robert M. Uggla since 2016. The Singapore office builds on a growth equity team launched in November 2022 to invest in later-stage companies, which had invested in 13 technology companies by its 2025 annual report. Growth equity is one of the firm's four investment mandates. Its investments include Forto, Loadsmart, project44 and Blue Ocean Robotics. In 2024, it led an €80 million equity round in UK digital bank Zopa, and in November 2025 it led the $60 million Series C in Upway. It also joined the €150 million Series E of Finnish satellite company ICEYE, led by General Catalyst.
The capital comes from the holding company's own balance sheet, which had a net asset value of DKK 281 billion (about US$44 billion) at the end of 2025. It has no external fund investors and no fixed fund life or exit deadline.
