Monterro Opens First UK Office to Support Portfolio Expansion Across Europe
Monterro, the Stockholm-based B2B software investor, has opened an office in London, its first in the UK. The Soho office will support portfolio companies expanding across Northern Europe, with the UK as an important part of that regional platform. Monterro points to the scale of the market: the UK tech sector has a combined valuation of $1.6 trillion in 2026, and the UK is the fastest AI adopter in the G7.
Monterro combines capital with hands-on support across go-to-market, product development, organisation and AI transformation. International expansion, both organic and through acquisitions, is a key growth driver for its portfolio companies. Add-ons are a long-standing part of the approach: the firm has completed more than 100 transactions since inception, around 60 of them add-ons, most of them cross-border. It has already completed several UK acquisitions and is in dialogue on others.
Monterro manages €3.1 billion in assets, more than double the previous level, after raising €1.7 billion across two new funds in September 2025. It has offices in Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen and Helsinki, as well as a software development centre in Hanoi. Opened in 2021 to ease the shortage of software engineers at Nordic companies, the Scandinavian Software Park in Hanoi now serves as an engineering hub for portfolio companies. They can set up dedicated teams there or bring in short-term AI-native engineers for defined projects.
Recent UK-linked deals include portfolio company Lumera's acquisition of Acuity in December 2025, a consultancy serving public sector pension schemes. The same month, Monterro-backed Matilda FoodTech acquired Newcastle-based Erudus, a food product data platform. In July 2026, Monterro took a majority stake in Finnish banking software company MORS Software, whose largest market is the UK.
